Music has been my constant companion since childhood, from evenings watching Chinese singing competitions with my family
to performing on stage. Growing up in Buffalo, I immersed myself in different musical worlds: earning my ARCT in piano
performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music at The Mary Handley Piano Studio, studying cello under Roman Mekinulov,
and honing my passion for singing through school choirs and studying classical voice with Dr. Holly Bewlay.
My high school choir director, Aaron Young, once shared
the new student address from the Boston Conservatory about music's role in
society and human connection. The core message of this speech has stayed with me, motivating my musical pursuits – music has a unique way of bringing people together
and expressing what words sometimes can't.
At Duke, music remains my creative sanctuary away from the worlds of code and data. As President of Rhythm & Blue,
Duke's oldest all gender a cappella group, I've found joy in both performing and arranging music. It's been amazing
to reimagine songs I love while building a diverse and welcoming community with others who share this passion.
I hope you enjoy these performances and arrangements as much as I've enjoyed creating them!
